When Christy of To La Lune Events sent over a folder of photos by Aubree Lynn Photography that were described as tiki-gone-chic, you better believe we had to check it out. Sarah Neal of Catalina Neal Floral + Design had told her that all she wanted was a tiki inspired fete with cocktails flowing for her birthday, everyone was IN. Isn’t it amaze all that can come from a couple simple words?
Christy says, We were excited to take “tiki” in a clean + chic direction, and away from the retro style seen so often. From there “chic-i tiki” was born! Brick & Laurel was the perfect blank canvas to build out from. Playing off the concrete, brick, and woods, I kept the lead color palette in neutrals of creams, tans, and whites. From there lush tropic greens, ocean-y blues, and subtle pops of peachy oranges (reminiscent of a Polynesian sunset!) came into play.
So who’s already mentally planning? Tropical cocktails by Snake Oil Cocktail Co. to get you started…
Tiki Punch
Bourbon, Pressed Grapefruit, Thyme Infusion, Blackberry Jam, Vanilla
Pineapple Express
Vodka, Smashed Banana, Pressed Lime, Cardamom-Allspice Reduction, Almond Orgeat
Sarah took the bar + dance floor design to the next level by creating the illusion of being outdoors in an indoor space. Each greenery installation floated effortlessly overhead, evoking the feeling that you had been transported straight into a jungle! Backup Backdrops worked with us in creating a custom shadow box that was then filled with a variety of big leafy palms. This statement piece really evoked the idea we were living one amazing tropic dream! With lounge vignettes in every corner, greenery installations overhead, a lavish food spread, and a one-of-a-kind bar experience with the most refreshing libations, it was time to get the party started!
PS: See that giant clamshell from Powwow Design Studio in the left corner? All about those details!
Think this cake is pretty enough for a birthday?!
