A little background on Alexis + Robert before we dig into their Chenoweth Woods wedding. She’s a graphic designer and he’s a forester, which yes, basically means they had *the* most creative, personalized wedding right in the heart of the woods. The details Michelle of Lillywhite Photography captured were brought to fruition by the bride, groom, and a slew of talented friends + fam who jumped in to make the day as special as it was!
Alexis explains, The romantic elements interlaced with total wilderness is just what our relationship has looked like, and we appreciate finding and creating beauty from what is messy, forgotten, and broken. We had the sweetest time reflecting on our years of friendship and the ways that we have been used in one another’s lives to bring out the best, worst, and most broken and beautiful parts of ourselves, and really wanted to share and create the elements of both who we are individually and how they complement each other as we formally united our lives before friends and family. The delicate flowers mixed with hearty foliage foraged from my parents’ yard, the antiques and handmade elements scattered about in an old growth redwood grove, the simple and fun details and the army of family and friends who helped it all come together on the day—it all reflected bits of our hearts and our story, and it was such a fun project to pull off and do so together!
Their color palette was made up of warm earth tones, greys, and woodsy greens.

When we found the Chenoweth property and trudged through the redwood grove behind their home, we were in love. The family’s reverence for nature and beautiful, evident values struck us more and more as we planned, and when the day came, their gorgeous family forest area was the perfect spot to gather our closest and celebrate the most wonderful day of our lives. We were so grateful to dine and dance beneath the stars and a gorgeous redwood canopy with the people we love and are so incredibly supported by. It was such a special place to be!
And the story behind this bouquet?
In the bouquet there were garden roses, standard roses, spray roses (can you tell roses are our favorite?), Queen Anne’s Lace (some purchased, some foraged from the side of the highway by my incredible Maid of Honor, Kate and dear friend Kendra, who did the arrangements), antique carnations, kangaroo paw, hypericum, Italian ruscus, and lots of foliage foraged from my parents’ yard such as tree branches (redwood and others) and even some wild mystery fruits that miraculously matched the groomsmen shirts!
Such a sweet floral-topped cake, too!
Congratulations, Alexis + Robert! Wishing you the best.
