We always love hearing from couples that they were engaged for the *perfect* amount of time. Everyone has a different process, you know? Having 1.5 years allowed Kirstin + Dustin to scoop up their top vendors, easing a lot of pressure right off the bat, like their fave photog Amanda Watson Photography. They have the most romantic, natural photo style that goes riiiight along with the classic blush color palette that K + D updated with modern touches and a hint of rustic elegance.
The bride tells it, We wanted things to be soft and natural looking. Nothing too formal or match-matchy. Our florist Juniper described the palette as “modern blush and ivory” which I really hung on to. I liked the popular blush and ivory color palette, but wanted to incorporate other tones and greenery to keep it soft but make it more updated. Our style is simplistic and we both love the outdoors so we think it fit us well.
Would you ever guess that the ceremony wasn’t originally planned for this spot? They planned to day I Do in an open field but rains the week before made it an impractical choice. Lucky for them, Sparrow has a few ceremony options and Forever Cole Events helped them execute plan B on the venue’s concrete patio.
Kirstin, on the first look… I was filled with nerves all day, but when I finally got to see Dustin they disappeared for a moment and were replaced with such joy. The day we had been talking about for so long was finally here, and we finally got to see each other as a bride and groom. I loved having a moment to feel that excitement in private. I would recommend a first look to anyone!
And her big must for a venue? Large windows and loads of natural light. Check and check! After perusing venues all over Oklahoma, nothing seemed as perfect as The Sparrow in Stillwater. They fell in love with the space even though it was still under construction when they toured it.
Such pretty desserts by The Round House Bakery, huh?

I would definitely recommend a day-of coordinator to everyone, as it allows you to have a memorable getting-ready experience with your family and bridesmaids without having to stress about getting details to come together. I would also recommend you choose vendors that you connect with and feel comfortable with. That was a big priority for us and I feel like this allowed us to have a lot of trust with our vendors and made communication much easier. Someone could have great work, but if you aren’t on the same page so to speak, it will just make the process more difficult on you and them.
Solid advice, Kirstin! Cheers to the happy couple!
