We know it’s early ‘n all, but we’re gonna go ahead and conclude that Ryan + Timothy’s wedding at the ACE in Palm Springs is the most fun thing you’ll see all day. Like, all-over balloons, hanging paper wisteria (yeah, just wait…), jump in the pool at the end of the night kinda fun. (Not surprising considering that Ryan’s a film set designer + Tim’s a reality TV story producer here in LA. Basically, they’re super creative.) With a killer vintage-cowboy-meets-vibrant-modern vibe, they enlisted After the Engagement to bring it all together, and Let’s Frolic Together captured some srsly amazing shots of every little detail.
Ryan says, We aimed for a lively theme that recognized and jived with the history and aesthetics of Palm Springs and the Ace Hotel (once upon a time a “Westward Ho” motel). The colors came together organically as we explored some of the natural and more vibrant colors found in the Palm Springs sunsets… There is a magic to getting out of LA, letting the heat and the relaxed vibes take over with those amazing mountains in the background. We knew we wanted it to be a weekend affair, where everyone could vacation together for a few days (taking some pressure off the day). We appreciated the fact that the Ace takes care of all food, drink, seating, etc., and that everything could all take place in the same area, but each event could have a different feel. The Ace has every detail impeccably tended to and their laid back, cool sense of humor completely worked for us.
Not to mention, the cowboy theme pays homage to the whole concept of blazing a new trail together, which they loved.
Their biggest focus was on a) their commitment and b) the comfort + happiness of their guests. Keeping this in perspective helped them minimize stress during the planning process.
OK so the paper wisteria we mentioned?! Here’s the story: All of that beautiful hanging purple paper wisteria was collected from several very generous Club Monaco stores throughout the LA area. We decided it couldn’t hurt to ask about their window displays once rotated out, and were pleasantly surprised by how generous they were! Our centerpieces had tiny cowboys, painted and shooting tiny flowers (originally made for train set models). We made the large graphic on the back wall, and surrounded it with handmade paper flowers (some of which were re-purposed RSVP cards). The escort card wall with tiny arrows as well as table names, table runners, favors, and menus were all handmade.
Doesn’t all this just look like so much FUN to dine among? Good times all around!
Our favorite moment would have to be when we jumped in the pool in our suits. And the fact that one by one MANY friends followed (both ladies and gents). My mother who swore up and down before the wedding that that would never happen ended up being the second person in the pool, even before the two of us. Our fabulous photographer, Jasmine, also got in, fully clothed, to get the right shots. It was a party.
Safe to say these two nailed the whole showing guests an awesome time thing! Congrats, R + T!
