Guys, how unique is this dramatic bougainvillea bouquet for fall? We’re so used to swooning over these blooms in summer, but mix it with dahlias and other rich blossoms and you’re left with a surprising, romantic vignette. Emily of Emily Delamater Photography, A Family Affair of Maine, and the team below left perfectionism behind and opted for a wild, unkempt bridal look when dreaming up this shoot. Goes without saying that FIELD Floral Studio totally nailed the whole beauty-in-chaos look. The floral recipe: Deep red and black dahlias were the mainstays of the bridal bouquet accented with bee balm, pieris, garden roses, coleus, and heaps of hot pink bougainvillea.

Emily says, The idea behind this shoot came from a love of the chaos in the unkempt. Many things in the wedding industry tend towards a seeking of perfection and order and we really wanted to explore the other side of that coin. So was born “A Beautiful Mess”—a smashed cake on the ground, lipstick on a wine glass, messy hair and wind and salt water, food strewn about, unruly and un-bounding.

How about a little pop of orange, too? So unexpected!

And a few more deets on those florals, via FIELD Floral Studio: I loved the chance to honor the bacchanal through overflowing, unrefined, and novel florals in this high-summer photo shoot. The super saturated palette of deep reds and pinks recalled spilled wine, lipstick kisses, cake smears, and cracked-open lobsters. I was able to forage onsite for the pink and green foliage in the bridal bouquet and ceremony site to help anchor the goddess bride model to the tiny island location. These are definitely florals for the young, wild, and free.
