Guys, how, how are we already through the first week of August?! We made sure to have some extra festive summer inspiration on the calendar this month for all you squeezing every last drop of fun out of the season. And what’s more fun than a DIY floral swim cap and tropical cocktails?! These cute summer bachelorette party ideas come from a shoot First Mate Photo and Krissy of Pollen Floral dreamt up at The Verb Hotel in Boston. See how to pull it off, below…
First things first, choose your locale. If you plan to hang poolside, make sure it’s a spot you’ll want to spend a lot of time lounging at, like a cool boutique hotel or Airbnb.
Incorporate a DIY element or something personal just for the bride. This floral swim cap is such a fun DIY! They found a vintage swim cap online and used hot glue and floral adhesive tape (u-glue) to hold the flowers in place.
And every good pool party has a summer cocktail… Grab the recipe for this one below!
You can prepare your own homemade shrub for this pineapple cocktail beforehand. Here’s how:
Pineapple Shrub
1c. diced pineapple
1c. apple cider vinegar
1c. sugar
Put pineapple + vinegar into sealed mason jars and let sit at room temp for 7-10 days, shaking them briefly every day. Strain out the liquid with a potato masher. Pour the liquid and sugar into a saucepan and simmer until sugar has dissolved. Let cool and return to sealed jar, then enjoy. Tip: You can store this in the refrigerator for several weeks!
And when it’s time to mix up the cocktail…
Pineapple Sparkler
1.5oz gin
.5oz pineapple shrub
.75oz pineapple juice
2oz ginger beer
diced pineapple
Muddle a few pieces of diced pineapple and pineapple shrub in a cocktail shaker. Add gin and pineapple juice. Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and strain into rocks glass filled with ice. Top with ginger beer and garnish with a pineapple slice.
Don’t forget some activities! Another fun DIY project is to fill a piñata with flower petals. So cute!
