We gotta say, we were pretty excited to see a wedding titled, “Citrus-inspired Spring Soiree in Palm Springs” pop up in the 100LC inbox. Claire and Michael have the most serendipitous love story, are seriously stylish, and wanted their guests to feel nothing but joy all weekend long at The Parker Palm Springs. The bride’s mom, who is equally stylish and had helped Claire’s sisters style their own weddings, as well as Lola Kent Weddings & Events, made sure their classic, colorful vision came to life. Thanks to Veronica of A Heart String Weddings for sending these lovely photos our way!
First, let’s get the scoop on this stunner of a bouquet The Dainty Lion dreamt up: Lush, colorful bouquet designed in a loose, natural style featuring a variety of garden roses, coral charm peonies, roses, anemones, spray roses and ranunculus as the primary blooms accented with additional botanical elements and greenery including kumquats and bright greenery.
Fun detail for all you planning a destination wedding: They created welcome cards that they had delivered to their guest hotel rooms with a bottle of wine. The cards had a map of the Parker with a wedding themed sticker to show where each event was held.
Their (super cute) love story… We met July of 2012 at a dueling piano bar in Michael’s hometown of Danville, CA. Claire was with two of her best friends (and bridesmaids), and Michael was also accompanied by a few of his best friends (and groomsmen). We were introduced by a stranger at the bar who knew neither of us, but mysteriously wanted to introduce us! After saying hello briefly, we parted ways, but only a few weeks later ran into each other at another bar in Danville. It took Claire a few months to finally agree to a first date, but after that the rest was history. We happily dated both living in San Francisco, and got engaged in February 2017.
Claire wore a sophisticated, simple, and modern Lela Rose gown from Jin Wang. Her two sisters, the matrons of honor, had the prettiest Marchesa gowns and the rest of the gals wore blushy Joanna August dresses. See the full fashion credits at the bottom of the post!
Claire and her mom worked on the wedding design together and included lots of fun, cheerful details like the “flower and citrus” confetti on the place cards. She explains, We let the color combinations of our florals and the beauty of the venue with lush gardens speak for themselves and draw our guests into each space. We wanted the event to show our fun and playful personalities, and we felt the colorful and happy vibe did just that, while still keeping the event classy, elegant, and modern.
One last special memory: The first look was truly incredible. We were at first hesitant to do a first look because we always thought we should save that surprise moment for walking down the aisle, however we are SO happy our photographer talked us into doing it. It was so special to have a quiet moment before all the craziness. The moment Michael turned around he was already in tears, and it made Claire just as emotional. Claire’s sisters (maid of honors) were hiding in the bushes and got to witness the special moment. It was our favorite! (Click into our gallery to see the photos.)
Cheers, you two!
