Okay, so on Monday we experienced the beach in Malibu, on Tuesday, we took to the French countryside (by way of San Diego), and here we are on Wednesday, jetting off to the North of Spain for an intimate European elopement. Just a typical week ’round here, you know. Junilo + Lindsay of Ugo.Photography teamed up with a slew of talented vendors from San Sebastian in Spain’s Basque Country to bring us this late summer wedding that evokes a sense of both relaxation and adventure. Everything you’d want in a destination elopement, right? Prepare to be enchanted…
The Northern coast of Spain has long been described as ‘wild’, ‘alluring’, ‘breathtaking’ and ‘stunning’. The adjectives to describe its beauty could go on and on due to the unique and mesmerizing views from any vantage point it seems. Not only does the region boast gorgeous natural beauty; it also prides itself in being a gastronomic capital in Europe; boasting the highest concentration of Michelin-starred restaurants per capita in the world. It is no wonder then that Spaniards are often heard saying, ‘¡se come muy bien en el norte!’, ‘one eats very well in the North!’.
Speaking of mesmerized, we’re completely captivated by Truvelle’s Samantha gown, from their 2018 collection. The soft, airy fabric and spaghetti straps give it the perfect late-summer-in-Spain vibe.
Meri LaCasamentera gave the elopement celebration true European flair with citrus, vibrant colors, and a mix of traditional and modern design elements, including an array of pretty tabletop pieces from Mesa Presidencial. Low tables and pink glassware forever!Just outside the European Capital of Culture, San Sebastian, lies the hidden Hotel Iturregi, a small boutique hotel which combines the charm of a rural house with the comfort and sophistication of a luxury hotel. It sits high on a hill, surrounded by vineyards and breathtaking views of the Cantabrian coastline, making it a quintessential wedding venue and accommodation for couples and their guests. Its installations and locations make it perfect for both intimate destination weddings and elopements.
Since the Basque Country is so famous for its food, traditional corn cakes with artisan sausage and fish,Iberian ham, spanish gazpacho and txakoli (young sparkling Basque wine), catered by Ekotaloak, were part of the spread. YUUUUM. Yum.
And did we mention the views?! Sighhh…
Always inspired by a well-styled groom, especially for an international wedding. See more photos in our gallery:
