Friends, did you hear the news? Our partners at The Black Tux just released their 2018 Holiday Collection, and it’s full of colorful, unique tuxedos, suits, shoes and accessories that are perfect for weddings during this most festive season. Gone are the days when grooms and all his pals stood at the altar looking more or less the same—there’s finally a way (actually, a ton of ways) for the Mr. to embrace a distinctive groom’s style on his big day… Let’s start with velvet, shall we?
If you didn’t know, velvet is one of the best fabrics for cold weather. So cozy and yet perfect for a formal occasion! Grooms with fall and winter weddings on the books can lean into the seasonal vibe with colorful and classic tuxedo jackets this plush material.
For the entire 2018 Holiday Collection, The Black Tux drew inspiration from iconic cocktail parties of the ’70s, then gave them a more contemporary style and fit.
We all know a few guys that are always taking their fashion to the next level, and that’s exactly the kinda groom that could rock a color-blocked velvet jacket tux featuring green, plum, gold, and rust velvet panels with a black satin shawl collar. Another option is their bold leopard velvet jacket tux. Either way, if a groom’s sporting one of these, you know he’s down to have a good time. Right??
The holidays are all about festivities, good company, warmth, and allll the good vibes, so we’ll assume that if you’ve decided to tie the knot in the midst of it all (New Years Eve, perhaps?), you’re a big fan of every one of those things.
A little background on this gingham dinner jacket look: The black velvet gingham tuxedo flips the dinner jacket look, with a solid black velvet jacket matched with black and white gingham checked tuxedo pants. Dinner jacket looks—that is, a tuxedo jacket in a unique color or pattern paired with black tuxedo pants—are a low-risk, high reward move for grooms who like to keep things classic. This collection features three of these looks: a rich plum jacket, a marigold jacket, and a midnight blue jacket with a discrete pin dot pattern.
Grooms can also rent head-to-toe plum, marigold, and gingham tuxedos with matching pants and jackets for maximum impact. Think the plum might be our fave, personally.
There’s just something a little different about holiday weddings and events, you know? Couples are a bit more free to express themselves more boldly than they normally would. New Year’s Eve weddings are an especially good time for a groom to make a statement. He can even go a more traditional route for the ceremony (like a classic black tux), and slip into something more festive for the reception. Brides have been doing it for eons, why wouldn’t our fashion-forward grooms?
K, so now that we’ve covered some of the ways a groom can stand out on his wedding day, let’s talk accessories. The Black Tux designed new pocket squares and loafer options specifically for the new collection.
You’ve gotta check out the loafers, in particular. Think monogrammed embroidery, champagne, and leopard print velvet. Loafers are often designed to fade in the background, in a way, but not these. They’re all about completing a look as statement-making as the ones you’ve seen here. Cue gasps by every single guest in attendance!
Digging what you’ve seen so far? Hurry, this is a limited collection. Reserve soon before the new collection sells out.
