Boy do we have a wedding for you, coming to us from Annie McElwain Weddings and Green Ribbon Parties at barn venue Greengate Ranch in San Luis Obispo. Meghan + Pete are a fun, romantic couple that wanted their wedding to be a joyful occasion without all the fuss. They also wanted that California field-to-table, elevated garden party vibe, with pops of color and fresh details. With a focus on making guests feel special, they created the most beautiful spring celebration. OH, and the florals and garden party fashion?! Yup. To die for.
Weddings are a huge investment, so we wanted to make ours last as long as possible. Aside from being impeccably maintained and offering a variety of locations for events (and pictures!), what really sold us on Greengate Ranch were the three luxury vacation homes on the property. It was amazing to have 26 of our closest friends and family stay with us on the property for the weekend. Hanging out at night at the fire pit, swimming in the pool together, taking morning walks through the vineyards—it felt like the best friends & family reunion ever.
OMG, these flowers. More on these designs, below…
Meghan says, I am obsessed with flowers, and I’m SO HAPPY how all the florals turned out, especially our ceremony arch. Moon Canyon killed it. My bouquet was a mix of garden roses, dahlias, ranunculus, and delphinium.
When Meghan couldn’t find the perfect dress (after trying on gowns in both NYC + LA!), she went back to this Oscar de la Renta Gown, then customized it to have a smaller, more romantic tulle bow.
M + P had a positive planning experience, thanks to the pros Green Ribbon Parties and their other talented vendors. Their biggest challenge was the seated chart—which they both tried to work out together. It took a lot of tweaking (and one table longer than the others) to get there, but once they did, it was smooth sailing from there.
Are you all as enamored with the bridal party and wedding guest fashion as we are? Don’t worry, we’ve rounded up some faves, below…
Pete and I both wrote our vows, which on one hand—was really stressful—we both waited until day of to finish writing them (which I don’t recommend), but it turned out to be the perfect articulation of our love. I think all that anxiety made us cut through to the heart of things. Mine were sincere and sentimental, and Pete’s were funny and humble. Hearing his words made my heart melt. By the time the Rolls Royce swept us away to cocktail hour, I was riding high.
I also loved walking into the barn for the reception in my party dress. We planned a dance routine for our first dance where Leon Bridges’ Coming Home that transitioned into Jagged Edge’s Let’s Get Married Remix. It totally changed the vibe of event and signaled to everyone that it was time to get down!
