We’re sure home to a lot of pretty elopements this year, aren’t we? (Thanks Covid.) Well, there’s no complaints here! We love a big wedding but it’s actually quite lovely to focus on elopements and micro weddings… and how our couples make them so thoughtful and special. For Brie and Josh, shifting their plans from a big wedding to small only made it more clear that being married amongst the beauty of Big Sur was all they truly wanted. Thanks to The DeLauras for sharing!
Did you catch the Croatia elopement we shared earlier this week? All about those sparkly sequin wedding gowns!
From their photographers… Brie and Josh’s love story all started on a chilly evening in Los Angeles where they shared a round of whiskey and the rest was history. These two’s love is undeniable and runs deep. They share a radiant reality with one another where it feels as if their spirits are dancing alongside each other while embracing their shared beauty of life and love that they have; especially when they are together. These two beautiful souls seek adventure, partnership and the outdoors. So it made complete sense that once they stepped foot onto Big Sur soil that they knew within their hearts that this was the place that they would decide to be each other’s forever.
For the ceremony amongst the red woods, it was just them and four of their closest friends and family, who co-officiated.
How gorgeous are these cliffside portraits?
Afterwards, they headed to Big Sur Bakery for an intimate reception…
Eloping or having a micro-wedding wound up being a great experience. While we missed our families and so many great friends, the small group allowed us to be a lot more spontaneous, including not having a ceremony site before we arrived. It was a tough decision to make, especially as we are both close with our families, but after rescheduling once due to Covid and being faced with the prospect of rescheduling again, we knew it was time to get married and do so in Big Sur, as we always planned. Thankfully we found support all around, which made the day even more enjoyable.
