With a COVID-19 winter round two keeping many of us grounded at the moment, there’s something even more special about seeing love unfold in different places around the world. When designing this Greek elopement dreamily captured by Jacobo Pachon, the team at Eventions Weddings sought to channel the carefree atmosphere of the Mediterranean, infusing lots of authentic details and nods elements of the past. It all came together on the island of Andros, a hidden gem amongst the more popular Greek islands.
The natural greenery and flowers loosely arranged by Fillo Flower Studio definitely embrace the organic feel of the Greek islands. They incorporated all local blooms and paired them with seasonal herbs throughout the venue.
The team shares, We wanted to give couples an alternative wedding celebration rich in the colors, tastes, and light of the Mediterranean, honoring the unique and eclectic character of Greece in general and Melisses Guesthouse in particular, that has received roaring reviews from Conde Nast Traveler and many other blogs and magazines as the next place to be on the Aegean.
The bride chose Athens-based Nidodileda for a laidback and romantic wedding dress inspired by traditional Greek wedding gowns.
This dreamy island offers the slower pace and potential for serendipity that many busier destinations have gradually lost. Andros is a big island—the second largest in the Cyclades after Naxos—composed of mountains and valleys, natural springs, pristine coves, hidden waterfalls, villages, and monasteries. It’s two hours from Rafina port in Athens, a short distance from Tinos, and on the way to Mykonos. Andros’ history as a maritime center, combined with the island’s fortified villages, has drastically deterred development, especially through mass tourism. But with a little research, this underrated island begins to reveal itself as both mysterious and enchanting—unexplored heaven waiting to be discovered by those who seek authentic Greek tranquility.
It wouldn’t be a Greek wedding without a feast!
