‘Tis the season for romantic summer weddings, and our couple Kate and Sean’s rustic barn wedding epitomizes this magical time of year. From the bridesmaids in blush to the golden hour portraits by Anna Kardos to the twinkle-lit barn reception, Lauren Harbin from Chancey Charm Washington, DC brought the couple’s vision for a rustic travel-inspired celebration to life in the warmest way.
The couple included a custom map of the property on the invitation suite along with the bride’s hand drawn calligraphy on the invitations and event signage.
Their rustic barn wedding venue, Sylvanside Farm in Purcellville, VA, boasts 24 acres blooming orchard, a water overlook and two restored barns. It also features two on-site cottages for the wedding party to get ready in. Couples can even end the night in their romantic on-site honeymoon suite.
The ceremony in front of Sylvanside’s idyllic pond introduced guests to what would be the first of many beautiful design details, including the warm blush, cream, and pale yellow color palette brought to life by Springvale Floral. The couple’s personal touches continued to make a statement during their cocktail hour in the stone barn with a travel-themed seating chart and an around-the-world themed cocktail and appetizer selection. A New Orlean’s gruyere beignet and Italian Campari spritz were just a few of the delicious, worldly items donning the tables. For Kate and Sean, a hyperlocal farm to table caterer was a must-have to create not just a menu, but an experience for guests in sampling a variety of international cuisines.
So many pretty spots for wedding portraits throughout this venue, right?

So stunning! The simple greenery and neutral linens along a wooden tables and chairs really channeled their rustic barn wedding theme in a modern, romantic way.
The evening ended with the reception inside Sylvanside’s larger poplar barn where guests had a chance to mingle while catching a glimpse of the breathtaking Clydesdale horses right outside the barn. Adding to the fun , a nitrogen mixer from Kate and Sean’s favorite local dessert hub, Nicecream, proved to be a hit with guests while the Bachelor Boys Band kept the party going all night long.
