It’s only February, but we think it’s safe to say that today’s feature will quickly come to mind when we’re recapping our top weddings of the year come December. Really, it’s THAT good, and these images Abby Jiu Photography shared certainly prove it. Bride Summer worked with Grit & Grace Inc to bring forth a bold vision of jewel tones layered with prints and pattern that popped against the idyllic gardens and grand architectural details of the Meridian House in Washington DC. They brought in show-stopping florals by Sophie Felts Design (we mean… did your heart skip a beat at the sight of that ceremony arch?) to surround them during I Do, and the most surprising and mesmerizing decor, signage, and tableware to fill every inch of the venue’s painterly interiors.
Now… Have we talked it up enough? This doesn’t even begin to cover it! Scroll through the photos below for more from this maximalist Meridian House wedding!
Bold, colorful wedding invitations is a major trend in 2023… You can see why, yes? Emily Baird Design is behind this one of a kind stationery suite.
Summer wanted to honor her Southern roots and current life in the city without straying from her personal style. The team at Grit and Grace dreamt up the perfect blend of all the details meaningful to them.
Bridesmaids wore soft blue, cream, and pink, and seafoam—romantic, subdued versions of the colors found throughout their florals and decor.
Not to mention the bridal party accessories!
Summer wore Lela Rose from Carines Bridal Atelier. For the reception, she swapped her veil for a pretty floral headband, then opted for a flirty, fringe-y pink mini dress for dancing… More on that below!
Okay, this seating chart! We’ve never seen anything like it and we’re sure their guests haven’t either!
Summer explains, A favorite moment of the wedding day was when I walked into the garden for the first time to take photos. Seeing our florals, escort wall, and ceremony setup was truly breathtaking! We were blessed with perfect spring weather and the atmosphere paired with the decor truly felt like we were starring in our own rom-com. Another favorite moment was the big reveal of our dinner tablescape. Laura and I worked for months to curate the perfect design that captured garden romance but with a bit more fierceness and she nailed it. The pattern play and color combination was everything I dreamed of and more!
They decided on their modern buffalo check tables early on, then built layers upon layers of spectacular details around it.
Love how they chose a sophisticated and classic white bow wedding cake (by Buttercream Bakeshop) to contrast all these sumptuous details!
Such a cute look for hitting the dance floor!
Have you seen how couples are opting for a private “last dance” before wrapping up at the end of the night? Looks like a special moment for sure…
What a dream, this wedding is!
