We’re daydreaming of a romantic Italian getaway today, thanks to this Tuscany wedding from GATHER Events featuring dreamy images by For The Love Of It. Olivia, a Food Network producer, and her guy Daniel chose Villa La Massa in Florence for their wedding weekend, balancing their modern minimalist style with the venue’s old world grandeur. They settled on a design of warm neutrals and terracotta tones, with a dash of black and gold to bring a black tie feel. Playful personal elements (like nods to the couple’s pup and their love of Harry Potter), brought everything together with a relaxed elegance no guest would soon forget!
Welcome Bags
Olivia and Daniel were all about providing an amazing guest experience. Their 110 friends and family were welcomed to town with local treats (Dario Cecchini salts, Leoni candies, prosecco, olive oil and more) and useful necessities (such as the cute recovery kits with “hangover” in Italian) in totes with commissioned leather tassels and terracotta beads. Then, they enjoyed a pizza and gelato welcome dinner to kick off the multi-day affair.
The Wedding Venue
GATHER Events tells us, Olivia Annacone and Daniel Cisic wanted an elegant, yet relaxed, wedding in Florence that brought together their nearest and dearest in a villa that provided luxury and convenience to their guests who had traveled so far to be there. Villa La Massa’s proximity to the city center and a professional tennis club were a big draw for the couple’s family and friends as the guest invitees included prominent people from the tennis world including Olivia’s pro tennis coach father Paul Annacone, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. The Renaissance era five star Medici villa, on the banks of the Arno River, boasts a secluded atmosphere and a star studded history (most notably as the location of David Bowie and Iman’s nuptials). The Wedding Fashion
Olivia wore the Zoe dress from Vagabond, which features a straight neckline bustier with a fitted crepe skirt and pleated plisse tulle detachable sleeves. They actually took inspiration from the pleats and mimicked them in the glass ridged vessels on the tabletop at their reception. Olivia paired the dress with her something blue, Amina Muaddi crystal embellished Begum mules. As for the bridal party, bridesmaids wore champagne-hued dresses from Shona Joy, Show Me Your Mumu, and Fame and Partners, while the groom and groomsmen wore classic tuxedos and loafers.
Their ceremony took place among the venue’s vast garden space with a view of the Florentine hills, olive grove, and fruit trees. It featured lush grounded floral installations by Britlyn Simone Floral that seemed to blur the transition between grass and blooms. The couple read from their custom vow books inscribed a Dumbledore quote.
The Decor
Tuscany’s lush landscape and warm terracotta hues were infused into the color palette and floral design. Custom Florentine marble paper in the wedding colors from a local artist was used throughout the entire design from the stationery to the signage. The couple met at a costume party where she was dressed as Voldemort, so we wanted to give a nod to this part of their story. On their wedding day the reception hall with its medieval vaulted ceiling and large stone fireplace was filled with hundreds of Erik & Ester taper candles, a la Hogwarts. From the cocktail napkin to the cake topper, the couple’s beloved fur baby Zeke made multiple appearances throughout the night without ever having to leave Los Angeles.
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed the couple’s signature cocktails poolside, which were an old fashioned and an espresso martini. Once inside, an escort card installation with terracotta shot glasses full of limoncello (yum!) guided them to their tables.
The Reception
Dinner was catered by the villa’s Michelin-star restaurant, followed by speeches including surprise video messages from guests Federer and Nadal who couldn’t be there in-person. Dessert included a cake from a local baker who made a copycat version of Momofuku Milk Bar’s birthday cake topped with their pup, along with a dessert bar full of traditional Italian treats.
For the party, Olivia changed into a short bridal dress full of ostrich feathers and a matching purse by Cult Gaia. She paired it with fun custom Nikes to dance the night away.
The next day, the couple hosted a “recovery swim brunch” with brunch, bubbles, beer… and a giant bowl of Advil. Yes please!
What a thoughtful multi-day affair! Congrats to Olivia + Daniel!
