There are few skills as coveted in the events industry as being able to design a wedding that comes off as equal parts elevated and effortless. The team at Bird Dog Weddings, along with Mountain Laurel Floral, managed to pull it off exactly right at the already cool The South Congress Hotel for Alec and fitness coach + wellness influencer Nicole‘s Austin wedding. The modern venue, clean lines and minimalist decor brought an air of elegance, while the Tulum-inspired dried florals and sandy neutrals kept the vibe light and fun. See how they all pulled it off as you scroll through the images by Leah Thomason Photography!
Such a pretty invitation suite for all you modern, minimalist couples!
The bride stunned with hair and makeup by The Bridal Beauty Team + Blush N Bangs in her effortlessly elegant Suzanne Neville dress and Loeffler Randall shoes. Her groom donned a classic suit from Tom James Clothing that was perfectly cohesive to their earthy palette, along with the bridesmaids in forest green BHLDN gowns.
Bride Nicole explains, Our venue felt super special to us as the South Congress Hotel is an Austin staple. We put our own roots down in Austin, TX and wanted to get married in a place our hometown friends and family could witness that represented our life together here in Texas. Also, the clean and minimal aesthetic of the hotel perfectly fit the vibe we were wanting to go for, not to mention the perfect location for our out of guests to stay and explore.
Love this lush, modern meets boho floral backdrop at the top of the stairs!
Loving these cute custom cups.
Gasp! Isn’t this the dreamiest reception? The details: The same vibe was carried throughout the reception space, embracing the modern and minimalist look with lots of earth tones, unexpected touches like black silverware and glassware and tons of florals. Fun design elements like handing installations and a neon sign + arrangement added some extra flair. Fine Day Press dreamt up the prettiest invitation suite and minimalist signage that complimented, rather than competed with their theme.
Custom plexiglass signs add such a wonderful touch of modern elegance.Nicole changed into a white sequin dress by Bronx and Banco and swapped her Loeffler Randall bows for Jimmy Choo for the reception and afterparty.
Lastly, a little advice from the bride…
We got engaged in August of 2020 and decided to pick a date in 2022 so we could hopefully avoid the mess of rescheduling that a lot of brides and grooms experienced during the pandemic! Having a 21-month engagement made planning so much easier because once we had venue/date/wedding planner set, we could kind of sit back and relax! Having a wedding planner and a photographer that we really trusted and knew cared about not only our wedding, but us as a couple was HUGE for us. Spending the extra money in those areas was well worth it! Our florist also made a huge difference in making our day come to life. My best tip would be to focus on the aspects that matter the most and have those nailed down first, the rest will follow. Delegating tasks is my second best tip!
