We love it when a couple flips the script, and that’s exactly what our bride Marisa did by outfitting her bridesmaids in white and donning (an absolutely gorgeous, show-stopping) pink wedding dress herself. Très chic! They worked with Grit & Grace Inc to bring a happy summer vibe to their luxe Hilton Head wedding venue Sea Pines—a beachside resort, golf course, and ballroom—achieving a relaxed elegance rarely done so well. Their custom watercolor wedding invitations by Laura Lines Calligraphy set the tone for a playful beachside wedding, with cute coastal creatures, a map of the island, and adorably illustrated schedule of events.
A To-Die-For Wedding Gown
Anyone recognize this pink Monique Lhuillier wedding dress from the botanical inspired Fall ’22 line? ‘Petal’ can actually be a full length or mini dress with its detachable skirt and trailing cape. Truly a vision!! The dreamy petal print was one of many watercolor elements used throughout the day as a not back to the invites and coastal locale.
And how shocked and excited was her groom!? Marisa says, Our first look was the best part of the day—originally we weren’t doing one but our planners convinced us that we wouldn’t regret it and they were right! It was incredibly special and emotional to have that time alone together before the day went into full swing. As soon as I walked up behind Patrick we both started crying and it turned into a really emotional part of the day we’ll cherish forever.
Bridesmaids all chose their own white sundresses, each with its own charming details. The idea to have them carry rattan basket purses with white flowers was a last minute addition, and ended up being so perfect for the day!
We both grew up as expats overseas and Hilton head was our families’ summer escape in America for the past 30+ years. We met here in 2010 when we were 17, and after a few special summers together made it official in 2015. Six years later, Patrick proposed in the same spot where we met.
Creative Summer Escort Card Display
Any ice cream fans looking for a creative escort card idea?! M + P love their ice cream—whether it’s to make bad days better or to celebrate the best ones like saying I Do—so their Leopold’s Ice Cream cart and custom ice cream sundae wall with sprinkle favors incorporating guests’ table numbers was a fabulous homage.
Guests had a fabulous time hitting the (mini) links during cocktail hour.
Reception in the Ballroom
While the ceremony took place at 18th Lawn at Harbour Town Golf Links, they used Sea Pine’s Champions Ballroom for a classically elegant indoor reception. The team transformed the space into a modern, romantic coastal celebration with woven accents, rattan lightings and greenery hanging overhead, a luxe bar (love those little floral baskets on display!) and formal tablescape. Pink floral centerpieces tied in the bride’s dress, while blue watercolor inspired table linens spoke to their beachy invitation suite.
So many sweet moments!
As if that pink wedding dress moment wasn’t incredible enough, Marisa swapped her gown for a white floral applique mini party dress and gold platforms. Gorg!!!
Love how they tied in the ice cream and sprinkles theme when it came to their wedding cake, too.
