Cakies, meet Amanda and Louise. They are the coolest LA couple and once you scroll through their wedding photos by The Shalom Imaginative you’ll see why. They both love 90s and Y2K nostalgia, bold color, and fun design details, all of which come through in their pink and purple wedding designed with Sabrina of Moon Realm. Their playful and vibrant nuptials stood out at everyone’s favorite Palm Springs venue, the Ace Hotel, where they said I Do amongst bright and whimsical flowers and their two sweet pups too.
What’s a nod to Y2K without a Friends-inspired welcome sign?
A + L loved that the Ace Hotel provided an inclusive wedding package without the need to bring too much into the venue. This allowed them more room in the budget for splurges like a custom wedding dress from Le’Zu Bridal Atelier and this amazing bespoke lavender bridal suit from Klein Epstein & Parker.
Cutest moment!
From the couple… We always knew we wanted to go for a non-traditional look and feel, because we’re non-traditional gals! Our vibe was bright, colorful, and FUN, and we also incorporated a few Y2K elements, like a hot pink inflatable couch for the lounge area, which everyone (even our parents and their friends!) wound up using for photos. The second we toured the Ace Hotel we knew it was right. It felt like quintessential, mid-century Palm Springs without feeling too fancy or stuffy. We were also impressed by how detail oriented the staff was from our very first encounters. And people had great things to say about the food, which helped.
Aren’t these pink and purple wedding flowers by Sparks and Sand just spectacular? Especially when paired with Amanda’s killer suit!
Love these little details! Planner Sabrina explains, Amanda, a creative copywriter and Louise, a recruiter for a tech company that employs autistic people live in LA with their two dogs. Shortly after they first met, they shared their love of the 90s-2000s era and bonded over their childhood memories: they each planned their own dream party by circling items in Oriental Trading catalogs. To help relive this fun memory, we created their dream wedding while incorporating y2k-themed elements.
The Ace included tables, chairs, and other necessary items that venues typically require you to rent from an outside vendor. We also used a lot of local, Palm Springs vendors instead of booking vendors from elsewhere, which saved us money AND felt like a way to give back to the community. Lastly we tried not to go crazy when it came to signage – you don’t need a sign for every little thing, like pointing out where the bathrooms are – people can figure it out! We did splurge on a few things – like Louise’s custom dress and Amanda’s custom lavender suit. We also went hard on details, like our funky glassware, ikebana floral arrangements, and unique drink stirrers – because in our opinion it’s the little things that leave the biggest impression.
Wedding favors included clear gift bags with trip essentials and local goodies.
What a fun and creative wedding day! Cheers to the happy couple, Amanda and Louise!
