Whether it’s monochromatic color palettes, nontraditional wedding cakes, or textural florals, we love to see how our favorite wedding trends inspire new experiments in event design. These sultry black and red wedding ideas coming to us from Mona Farm, all the way in New South Wales, Australia, just so happen to feature all of the above in elegant new ways. Photography teams Sera Luna and Calla Lily Collective combined forces to document the scene floral designer and stylist Pia & Jade dreamt up with a mix of digital and film imagery.
Maison Paper Designs set a dramatic scene with this bold red velvet draping to pair with the stationery and signage by Designs to Adore. It also served as a romantic backdrop for couple’s portraits you’ll see later on…For the ceremony, the team combined the dreamiest burgundy-to-red orchid, hydrangeas, and red roses for a cascading floral arrangement draped over the venue’s bridge for their ceremony location.
Romantic Black and Red Wedding Ideas
From the team: The shoot is an elegant blend of styling mixed in with high-end fashion and is intended to be a micro-wedding with many creative elements to add a unique flare to the day. We picked a beautiful strawberry cake creation by Butter Bakery to have as the reception centrepiece and used a stunning draping look by Maison Paper.
The Stylist for the day Pia & Jade created a stunning floral setup on the Mona Bridge that was timeless and elegant and we were in awe of every moment. With many creative styling elements and the main theme being red, we wanted to really lean into this colour and create something bold and beautiful.
Their bride donned an ethereal, sparkling lace and beaded Inez gown by Aston Bridal. This dress can be customized, BTW!
As mentioned, we love a good take on a nontraditional wedding cake! Aussie cake designer Butter was behind this strawberry wedding cake, and it’s not the first design of theirs we’ve swooned over. Celeste is to credit for kicking off the viral long wedding cake trend, and inspired tons of cake designers with her dome cakes earlier this year too.
All of these little cupid motifs throughout would make a fun nod to romance for a Valentine’s Day wedding too, right?
Whether for the holidays, Valentine’s Day, or just a black tie affair in any season, these black and red wedding ideas could be recreated for so many themes.
Another gorgeous wedding look, this time by Sant Elia Sydney. See more of our favorite wedding reception dresses here!
Those black candles! Red flowers! Fresh strawberries! All so good.
