Before we get into Maureen + Daniel’s coastal wedding, can we just talk about M’s amazing bridal style for a sec? So modern and stunning. She fell in love with the Halston Heritage skirt and teamed up with a seamstress in Manhattan to create the perfect custom top to go along with it. As you can see in Ashley Ludaescher‘s photos, it totally went with their California beach wedding style.
How pretty is Avila Beach? Ashley of Ashley Ludaescher Photography says, When Maureen & Daniel first started planning their wedding they thought they would tie the knot in either Big Sur or Joshua Tree, two of their favorite places in Maureen’s home state of California. They live in New York and after a few months of searching online for venues they had never visited, they decided to look into venues on the central coast, where Maureen was born and raised. They finally decided on the historic lighthouse at Point San Luis, a 126 year old working lighthouse on a point with incredible views of the Pacific. With most of their guests traveling to their wedding, the venue was a perfect place to show off Maureen’s beloved home town.
The bridal bouquet by Maureen’s friend Tabitha Rosenthal was chock full of anemones, dahlias, fern, eucalyptus, and ranunculus.
We were sold on the venue as soon as we boarded the trolley that takes guests to the lighthouse; the ride is full of excitement due to the extreme cliffs, narrow roads and panoramic views of the central coast. We also loved the quaintness of the outdoor space and its proximity to the ocean. In addition, the lighthouse’s mysterious aura was reminiscent of an Edward Hopper painting or a Hitchcock film set.
They didn’t opt for a specific aesthetic, but let the ocean, lighthouse, and landscape inspire them.
According to the bride, Avila is the best spot in San Luis County to watch the sunset, too. Noted! See more from their day in our gallery below:
