Hello Cakies! Amanda here, popping in with some photos of my recent 40th birthday party at the beach. And it was the dreamiest! I wanted to gather a bunch of my friends together down in the sand for a relaxed end-of-summer soiree.. tacos, paletas, and people lounging around and laughing. Robin from Ro&Co Events created the most perfect party for this birthday girl (and mama-to-be!), complete with a flowy canopy and plenty of color. And Birds of a Feather captured the day in their beautiful California style. See all the details below!
I designed a few fun accents for the event including an invite, and some custom cocktail napkins and drink stirrers printed by For Your Party. Don’t you love that pink and orange tie-dyed cocktail napkin?
Robin explains, Amanda’s 40th birthday wishlist included an all-out boho chic soiree with her friends on the beach in Tulum. But with a bundle of joy on the way in just a month or so, traveling to Tulum wasn’t exactly in the cards…so we brought the Tulum vibes to her!
Settling on a beautiful sandy spot at the beach in Playa del Rey, our imagination ran wild with dreams of Tulum.
A lightweight fabric canopy covered guests from the sun and created a relaxing, breezy atmosphere. The palapa-style thatched umbrellas from Bob Gail Events added a Mexican-inspired touch. To fulfill Amanda’s boho vibe and vision, we enlisted Circa Rentals for their beautiful selection of rugs, pillows, poufs and a special peacock chair for the birthday girl. Floor seating around a central communal table allowed guests to mingle together while enjoying the party’s fresh bites.
Well hello, little Birdie!
I mean, the dreamiest, right?! Robin is the best.
Lush, tropical-inspired florals from Hello Honey Flower Co. added the perfect amount of festive color and greenery. The fresh fruit centerpiece was a riff of the agua fresca flavors that included watermelon and citrus. BorrowedBLU linen napkins in a neutral tone balanced out the colorful rugs and flowers at the table.
I loved this agua fresca station for guests to serve themselves, including flavors of Watermelon Mint and Mixed Berry Citrus. I also hand-painted a few wooden signs, inspired by the style of signage in Tulum, which took a lot of trial and error, but in the end turned out pretty cute I think!

Pretty sure baby had a good time too…
Heirloom LA provided a delicious spread of carne asada and grilled fish tacos, Mexican bean salad, cilantro rice and fresh salsa. We arranged the spread in a set of rustic wooden bowls from Crate and Barrel’s Tondo collection.
The final perfect beach treat was provided by Si Paletas, who brought a variety of fresh fruit popsicles including mango chili lime, peach orange blossom, strawberry cream brown sugar, lemon blackberry lavender and hibiscus fresh grape. YUMMM.
All in all, a wonderfully memorable day, and the perfect way to ring in this new decade and a close to summer.
