It’s dark, it’s dreary, it’s the end of January and you’re wondering why winter can’t just be over already. You know what you need? A gorgeously luxe winter wedding to hold you over. And major bonus, the team at CURATE Events + Design is here to show you how to pull off a modern, elevated design in a region that almost always leans rustic. See what they have to say as you scroll through all the dreamy imagery Dani Cowan Photography shared!
Let’s begin with this dramatic, custom tablescape by Yonder Floral + Décor House, shall we? CURATE explains how to get the look: Leave the wild outside and dazzle your guests with a simple mountain retreat instead. Warm firesides, delicious custom whiskey cocktails, and sleigh rides all added to the Colorado vibe of this look, without overdoing it. Just because your wedding venue is in the mountains, doesn’t mean your entire decor theme should be based around wood slabs and tree stumps.
Colorado weddings can feel predictable or difficult to make unique. While we love a hint of Colorado-classic ambiance, we’ve officially decided that mountain-rustic can (and should!) still achieve a modern, elevated feel. Setting out to inspire mountain brides and grooms, we started by rooting this design in that tried-and-true rustic aesthetic by incorporating the classic, mountain elements that the stunning Devil’s Thumb Ranch decor has to offer.
They set the tone with leather, wood, and warm tones combined with an airy gown, sharp suiting, and clean paper goods. And of course, ethereal florals by the talented Prema Style.
Rather than making a cut-and-dry list of “wedding colors”, choose a palette of tones that speak to you. A full color scheme elevates your design and provide depth to the aesthetic. This might look like a warm fig color, a light mauve, and a few different shades of taupe and ivory. All colors that complement the Colorado outdoor backdrop and a wide variety of wood grains.
Imagine a neutral color palette with a variety of different flower textures, organic greens, and seasonal blooms. Mix muted metallics into your candles and decor elements with warm lighting to set a romantic, luxurious mood. Have a favorite outdoor candle scent? Light one at each table and your guests will never forget the aroma and mood you set at your wedding.
Another tip from the team is to get inspired by your favorite shops! You don’t always need to search for a specific type of wedding theme to gather inspiration, you can bring together different elements from you and your partner’s interests and lives.

Oh, and did we mention that a horse drawn sleigh is also a must? Swoon.
Such good advice from our friends at CURATE. Okay, who here has a winter wedding on the books? Can’t wait to see how you incorporate these tips!
