Fun fact about Karina + Seth: they are both identical twins! Their wedding party included only their siblings and best friends adorned in white dresses and navy blue suits, which set the stage for a charming yet modern garden-inspired wedding at the prettiest Maine wedding venue, Live Well Farm. It’s a rustic white wedding venue with a 185 year old barn for dancing, farmhouse for getting ready, and acres of gorgeous gardens and greenery. When you see the space, you’ll totally see why K +S chose this green + white color palette.
Thanks to Lindsay Hackney for sending this beautiful wedding our way!
Karina explains, I described our aesthetic during planning as “elegant garden party” (which we laughed about a lot having never actually been to a garden party). We wanted an outdoor event that would feel special but also relaxed, and we tried to plan something that was true to us. We did not have a specific color palette and kept the styling quite minimal. We chose ivory and navy for the bridal party attire and played off the floral color palette for almost everything else decor related.
Live Well Farm in Maine is an 1840s barn venue with lawn space that accommodates up to 200 guests (Karina and Seth had 90). There are multiple locations for couples to choose from for their ceremony. This is the inside of the farmhouse (which sleeps 11 and comes along with the venue rental). It’s a super charming and lovingly restored space that made for some gorgeous getting ready photos! How sweet is this farmhouse?!
Our florist, Pretty Flowers, was amazing and put together the most incredible bouquets from a just few inspiration pics and requests I shared with her. I didn’t have specific flower requests, but I was interested in muted and dusty shades with lots of wild greenery and some pops of dark color. I believe she used quicksand and amnesia roses. I really loved what she created.
Karina’s bridesmaids wore white BHLDN Iva Crepe Maxi dresses that went perfectly with her modern Lela Rose gown.
And cute no phone wedding sign idea!
I grew up in Maine and it is one of my favorite places to be in the summer, so we pretty quickly focused our search there. We wanted a Maine wedding venue that would provide some outdoor space with a solid “plan B” in the event of wet weather. We found Live Well Farm pretty late in our search. We toured the property on a perfect summer day and really loved the feel of the space with the gorgeous backyard and ceremony garden. Choosing this venue also meant that we could have the venue and attached farmhouse from Thursday through Sunday around our Saturday wedding. This allowed us to host our rehearsal dinner onsite and enjoy the property for the entire weekend.
We were a bit hesitant in choosing a venue that required us to bring in all vendors separately, but we also loved the flexibility that this provided. We worked with Geneva Campbell, who was very familiar with the venue and she was an invaluable resource through the planning process and on our wedding day. The owners were also really great people and were wonderful to work with.
All of their wedding day paper were DIY projects by Karina’s sister, from the menus to the escort cards. So pretty!
Their seating chart was another wedding DIY… each guest found a photo of them that K + S had chosen in order to locate their seat!
My advice on budgeting would be to do your research at the very beginning and get a real feel for what the type of event you are envisioning is going to cost. Decide what your priorities are and recognize that splurging in some areas may mean cutting other things out to stay on budget. Try not to get too caught up in what tradition says you “need” to have and focus on what is important to you.
Love this tented space!
