It’s been a minute since we shared a new Texas venue with you, but this is sure a fun one. Especially if you’re looking for an elopement location or small wedding venue in Austin. The Bloomhouse, a vacation rental by Lodgewell, has recently opened its doors to this 1970s architectural gem for couples tying the knot in an intimate—and wonderfully offbeat—setting. Lauren Nicole Photo teamed up with Betts & Co Events to help couples envision saying I Do on this funky property, full of curves and texture and lots of photo-worthy features. Take a little tour, below!
The Bloomhouse: A Unique Small Austin Wedding Venue
Here’s the story behind this nature-inspired property: “…Two UT architecture students decided to build an escape from society that would become a monument to man and nature. Their goal was a home that would not only protect you from the elements but allow you to live in harmony with the environment. They wanted this quixotic vision to provide a place of peace and isolation, a place so far removed that for many years there was no physical address.”
Eventually, the property was lost in the Austin real estate boom, and there it sat until 2017 when Dave Claunch bought this work of art and restored it to its curvy, earthy splendor. Since then, it’s been available as a unique Austin vacation rental, sleeping 4 within its 1100 square foot build.
Jen Krause Paper Co crafted these artful modern wedding invitations (which could also inspire an elopement announcement!) to go with the organic design of the space and weddings within it.Their bride wore an ethereal Naeem Khan gown from San Antonio bridal bouquet Julian Gold Bridal.
The architects who designed Bloomhouse were inspired by organic shape, mimicking of earth’s elements, and eco-friendly material. Betts & Co Events took that concept and incorporated natural details like mushrooms, moss, and pops of earthy colors.
If last year was all about incorporating produce in your floral arrangements, then the next trend has gotta be some new earthy elements, like fungi and moss and exotic botanicals. The floral team at Grand Lady Austin truly created magic out of these centerpieces!
While the interior is a cozy space best for the couple (and perhaps two loved ones) to stay overnight, the outdoor space can accommodate a small guest list for an intimate ceremony and dinner celebration.
The sculptural wedding cake by Olive & Aries also featured mushrooms, moss, and blooms. Just look at these details…
Lauren Nicole Photo captured some of the details from this day on film, alluding to the creative culture of the era the home was built.
