Stationery lovers get ready to swoon. The paper goods in today’s wedding, designed by Scout’s Honor Co., are gorgeous to the max! From the save the date, to the invite, the place cards, handheld paper fans, to the guest wishes – not one paper good was left unturned. The watercolors, type, and illustrations you see in the save the date were tied into every single wedding detail, pulling the “classy, beachy, and elegant” theme together impeccably, and if you can’t tell, we’re kind of in love. We know we’re obsessing over the paper goods, but oh, there is so much more pretty to see in Melanie + James’ summer wedding, thanks to Tania Lezak Photography!
Here’s Melanie to dish on the beautiful invitation suite:
My friend Annemarie Buckley was our stationer and words do not describe how wonderfully talented she is. We met in college, studied abroad in Australia together and she just recently started her company Scouts Honor Co. We both have a deep love of stationery and all things paper, so this was a dream collaboration. I told Annemarie that I wanted to use blues and yellows, and while I wanted the invitation to evoke “beach”, I didn’t want literal interpretations of it i.e. seashells, etc. I didn’t want my invitations to look like everyone else’s and Annemarie was able to customize them to our personalities, the spirit of the wedding, and the life of Long Beach Island where the wedding took place. I can’t tell you how many people asked if they could verbally respond to our wedding so they could keep the response card! Her work was the thread that tied everything together.

I used hydrangeas and candles (that were made by my aunt!) as the main decoration, while also displaying lanterns and family photos throughout the estate. The Bonnet Island Estate is essentially a house with 12 bedrooms upstairs so we wanted our guests to feel as though they were at our home and we just happen to have a chapel and ballroom on the property.
Our favors were monkey fist keychains that I purchased on Etsy.com from Mystic Knotwork. I thought these were so well made and unique, I had to get them. Plus the nautical knot, Monkey Fist, tied (pun intended) into our beachy theme. Paired with Annemarie’s tag, “Melanie + James Tied the Knot 7.23.2011”, it was the perfect favor. The hand-tied keychains cost about $700 for 175.
Like we mentioned earlier, every little detail was so well thought out that even their first dance song fit perfectly with their nautical theme. The song: Cat Power’s, Sea of Love.
