The wedding of Jessica + Doug was modernly crafty, urban, and perfect for a couple with roots in Seattle, Philadelphia, Portland and now Los Angeles. Rightfully so, it paid homage (food wise) to all the regions they’ve called home and tilted a hat to Philly with a movie screening of Audrey Hepburn’s The Philadelphia Story – vintage theatre seating and all. Stumptown coffee roasted in Portland, Northwest microbrews, New Hampshire blueberry crumble…as you can see they made a specific choice for every part of the process, then had the visionary talent of Styled Creative to give the details that gorgeous touch!
When we were planning our wedding we wanted to make sure that we were able to express the ways in which the various places we have lived have shaped us, both as individuals and as a couple. We wanted to pay homage to the regions that we have called home. We chose food from different regions: the south (where I went to college), the Northwest (where Doug grew up), and Southern California (where we live now). The dinner options were divided into regional fare and offered at stations that were inspired by food trucks. Guests had a blast!
Remember that sweet “Kissing You” song by Des’ree that played when Claire + Leo first met in the ’96 version of Romeo + Juliet? That’s the song Jessica walked down the aisle to.
Jessica and her sister spent three busy busy nights creating paper tassles a la Confetti System for escort cards. Totally paid off, they look amazing!
We’re loving everything about their table setting. Instead of paying for expensive menus, Jessica found some pretty paper from Kelly Paper, bought the font that Megan used on their invitations and designed and printed the menu cards + programs herself!
Jessica + Doug love the communal aspects of street food vending, and in keeping with their regional influences, they opted to forego the formal sit-down eating arrangements in favor of regional stations that were influenced by food trucks or carts.
Never have we seen a projected movie with rented old theater seats at a wedding! Exceptional idea for guests that want to take a break from dancing and admire Katherine Hepburn.
Gorgeous to no end! Congratulations Jessica + Doug!
