You grew up going to amusement parks, couldn’t wait until you reached the churro cart, and didn’t plan on leaving until you won yourself a stuffed animal or funny hat. Gennifer + Pastor’s wedding embraced all of that and the essence of early 1900s amusement parks. They pooled their resources and applied their DIY aesthetic to the whimsical, Glen Echo Park, to make theirs a fun, eclectic wedding entirely of red, white and blue details!
Inspiration for a fourth of July party? Yep, there’s lots of that in here, and we’re helping ya out with these cute red, white and blue striped paper straws just added in our Pop-Up Shop!
Those eye-catching red & white striped table clothes were made of unbleached muslin and hand painted by G + P. Watch how they made it here.
We took advantage of every inch of the park available to us, and because of the multiple locations we had to come up with different decorations that would continue from one area to the other while abiding by the park’s strict regulations. We started with wooden signs that helped direct our guest to the grassy knoll where we greeted them with popcorn and drinks as we prepared for our wedding ceremony.
Because of budget constraints they had their flowers double as a decoration piece and a keepsake for each guest. They handmade paper flowers out of coffee filters and watercolored them to match their color scheme. Check out how they made them here.
Striped straws are always a favorite of ours, and we’re excited to announce that we’re selling some red, white & blue ones in our Pop-Up Shop, just in time for all your fourth of July parties!
The wedding married two cultures, so we worked with the caterers to do the same by serving dim sum during a traditional dragon dance and then switching to a dinner with some Panamanian staples like ceviche.
A midnight snack of churros are the best!
Perfect way to start off the week! Congrats Gennifer + Pastor!
