Vintage inspired picnic wedding: Sophie + Gareth

vintage 50s picnic style wedding

If you’re able to have all of your guests dress in their finest 50’s threads for a vintage inspired picnic wedding, the result could be a fabulous fête like this UK one. The fashion, hair, makeup, and shades were stellar! Every guest participated, and there really wasn’t a detail left untouched. Sophie + Gareth love all things vintage, so they spent a good year trawling charity shops, and antique fairs looking for lace and vintage tablecloths, glass vases and accessories. You’ll love how they pulled it all together…

Their tunes: For their ceremony, they played Sigur Ros’, Hoppipolla, then The Beach Boys, God only Knows and Van Morrison’s Brown Eyed Girl played while they signed their certificate. Their first dance was to Andy Williams’ Moon River.

A few words from Sophie: Try to keep it as personal as you can – it’s your day and your guests will appreciate the little personal touches. Everyone commented on how ‘us’ the wedding was. It is the biggest party you will ever organise and in our case probably the only time we would have all of our loved ones in the same place together so we wanted to create a laid back feel to encourage everyone to relax and interact – it totally worked. So plan, plan and then do more planning – the only way you will be able to relax yourselves on the day is to know every detail has been thought about and covered. Make sure your venue have your schedule and know to stick to it so you can enjoy your day. Oh… and every now and again take a deep breath and take it all in!
