How do you celebrate a wedding with a bride from Kentucky with Korean roots, and a groom from England with roots in the Royal Air Force? You do what Maria + Lee did. Their wedding was a true balance of their roots. They drank from a Scottish quaich to symbolize their coming together, but opted for Kentucky bourbon instead of scotch to honor Maria’s home state. Her mother wore a traditional hanbok, his father wore their family tartan. And they had n.Barrett capture their most adorable moments together.
Their story is a cute one for sure. Maria and Lee met at a beach bar in Kenya. She was living in Manhattan as a Wall-Street lawyer and Lee in England as a military helicopter pilot. Fate brought them together while she was on holiday and he deployed with the Royal Air Force. They soon realized that even an ocean couldn’t keep them apart and Maria left the Big Apple for the pretty English countryside. Before their first Christmas Lee proposed under the twinkling lights of the holiday market in Provence.
Given the wedding’s military presence, Royal Air Force and British Army uniforms abounded. Their ceremony started with a special dedication to British and American servicemen and women, and after the ceremony, Maria and Lee were presented to their guests by Lee’s sword party.
Following a champagne hour, their celebration moved from the chapel to the Glasgow Art Club where they were brought in by a Scottish piper! Maria changed into a frock fit for dancing and Lee into his kilt, and they danced the night away.
Such a fun way to play around with typography and images. They had their entire love story printed out and framed!
Congratulations you two!
