We are beyond thrilled to share this wedding with ya. Back in June Yeah! Weddings announced this. The aftermath was pure madness of the most creative kind. Couples campaigned their butts off and now, six months later, we get to share all the behind-the-scenes from Melanie + Kelcey’s free wedding. We were dying to know how every tasting & fitting went, so we asked Melanie to dish. Because really, how often do you get to hear from someone that just won a FREE wedding? Huge congrats to these two for winning and for the creative gang at Yeah! Weddings for pulling together a celebration all us wish we could have.
When I walked into the ban.do studio, I was overwhelmed with sparkly, pretty things. My bridesmaids and I sipped champagne, and through the dizzying fun, I fell in love with quite a few options: a big organza flower, the glam crystal headband that I wore for the reception, and the blue ostrich pouf that the bridesmaids all wore. The pouf reminded us of Marie Antoinette, so we had to do it.
Upon arriving at the Bash, Please, Paige + Kelly welcomed me with a confetti filled entrance and hugs. Their studio is incredible with so many creative details to look at. I probably could have sat there for hours. I loved that they had personalized their chalkboard wall for us! Since they were our very first meeting, I remember thinking we probably had so much to do with the wedding only a few weeks away. To my surprise, the ladies had already been planning for months. I felt completely connected to the mood board that they put together with its constellations, geometric shapes, shades of blue, and water color details. In my wildest dreams, I never would have been able to imagine my wedding so perfectly.
I loved my visit to Lovely Bride Shop — so much that it makes me sad that I’ll never have another reason to visit again! Merrill was amazing to work with. She made me feel really comfortable and helped me envision different ways to style each dress. I was never the little girl with a binder full of wedding ideas, so I definitely appreciated all of her help.
Our tasting with Tal from Pharmacie was really fun. He had us choose songs that we felt were representative of our relationship (inspired by Graceland, Radiohead, and LCD Soundsystem), and from there, he crafted drinks that felt like the songs. It was an amazing process to watch (and drink!)
Our tasting with Heather from Scootabaker was so, so yummy. Her desserts are absolutely beautiful, and luckily because of the design of our cake, we didn’t have to choose one cake flavor. Heather was sweet enough to include a few!
Ok, you’re dying to see the wedding now, right? It’s SO good you guys. So good. We’ve got it coming up, plus their rad video, in just a jiff!
