If you get a chance to visit Ojai you’ll fall in love. It’s a dreamy weekend getaway retreat for those of us living in California, and was the perfect wedding destination for East Coast natives/current Angelenos, Holly + Ruben, who wanted guests traveling from the East to celebrate in a picturesque location with some of the beautiful sunsets seen in California. From the look of the location, to the style of decor, and most of all food, H + R wanted everything to be representative of their adopted home state – easy, effortless and pretty. The creative ladies of Bash, Please were behind all the pretty paper & design, with the talented Studio Castillero capturing it all with style. Click here to view the entire gallery of images.
Holly came up with this awesome idea during a 30 minute break while working the Toronto Film Festival one day – their ceremony music was going to be nothing but Bruce Springsteen played by string quartet, Subido Strings! She’s from NJ and Ruben likes Bruce so it was really meaningful. The processional was “Thunder Road,” Holly walked down to “Jersey Girl” and together they walked up the aisle to “Born to Run.”
Bash, Please came up with a fun idea for the ol’ escort card table. Guests walked up to the table to find a mini jar of mustard with their name and a sign reading, “Find your seat & find your pretzel”.From the bride... I loved every single minute of our wedding. It was the most perfect day. The most memorable things for me were obviously our ceremony and being so happy to stand next to Ruben. I also loved sitting with our siblings during the dinner. It was really fun to share that time with those people we are closest to. And the music. The music was perfect. My friend Michelle was the DJ and she KILLED it. We basically had an old school hip hop party for the last hour and it was so fun. Everyone was going crazy on the dance floor dancing to songs by Mobb Deep, Jay Z and Notorious BIG. The best part of her set was when she played Method Man and Mary J’s “You’re All I Need” because that is our real “song.” Also, my dad shut the night down by singing “My Way” as the final song onf the evening. It was pretty unforgettable.
