We’re going to let Casey tell you all about the emotional and heartbreaking roller coaster they endured the night before their wedding later in the post. We want to help to celebrate their love by showing you how the day unfolded. They wanted to highlight some of their favorite things from both their previous home in Southern California, and new home in Portland. Their wedding venue was the perfect setting for an urban, rustic, and outdoors-y feeling wedding. Wildflowers, succulents, and moss covered stumps made up most of the decor while little pieces of Portland (locally grown lavender and coffee) were sent home with guests as wedding favors. So thankful Emily Blake shared this beauty with us! Hop on over and take a look at their gorgeous gallery of images.
Her bridal bouquet recipe: orange & cream dahlias, succulents, blue hydrangea, white anemones, erygnium, plumosia, seeded eucalyptus, dusty miller, rosemary.
Their wedding tunes:
– Such Great Heights by Iron and Wine while parents/grandparents entered
– I’ve Got This Friend by The Civil Wars for the bridal party entrance
– A Thousand Years by Christina Perri for the bride’s entrance
– Devine Romance by Phil Wickham during communion
– Home by Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros for the ceremony recessional
– Teenage Dream by Boyce Avenue was their first dance song
Fun little fact: Over 100 assorted vintage glass bottles were collected from various thrift and antique stores for all the flowers.
Good luck trying to stay away from this super cute & fun cupcake bar as a guest, right?
From the bride… Both mine, and David’s, favorite memory was something that might have been completely overlooked had the wedding taken place a week, or even a day, prior to our wedding day. At the conclusion of the ceremony, after all the groomsmen and bridesmaids had exited the ceremony area, our favorite moment took place as my mom emphatically jumped out of her wheel chair to exit the ceremony with my dad. She exited the ceremony to cheers and not a single dry eye in the house. Both, David and I, watched this knowing that a miracle had just happened. (Obviously, there is an extensive story behind why this was such a huge moment in the wedding that I’d be more than happy to elaborate on. Understanding the context of everything that had happened around the night before and day of the wedding is what made this moment so special.)
In short, my mother was rushed to the hospital and we didn’t think she was going to make it to the wedding and the fact that she was not only there, but jumped out of her wheelchair and was on her feet having the time of her life the rest of the night was a pure miracle.
We wish Casey, David and their families the best. Congratulations on a beautiful wedding!
