After hearing that Elaine was part of the visuals team for Anthropologie and Mitch was an event producer, we knew we were in for some seriously rad event styling and fashion. The handmade decorations, elegant bohemian aesthetic, and golden lighting all lend themselves perfectly to the California vineyard setting. Elaine’s off-the-rack dress turned one-of-a-kind wedding gown is the real showstopper though. Elaine worked with a tailor to basically rebuild the gown, adding layers of silk chiffon, handmade rosettes, silk rope, feathers, and other gorgeous boho details. We’re so glad The Why We Love was there to capture their intimate 36-guest fete. Click here to view the full gallery of images!
Elaine says, I collaborated with Yuli Mosk on my gown, an amazing Beverly Hills tailor who patiently and brilliantly executed the many manipulations of the dress. He followed my vision and was able to do with his hands what my mind dreamt of. He totally got it when I showed up with yards of silk chiffon and told him I wanted flowy, raw-edge, uneven layers that hung effortlessly and created movement in the dress. He didn’t bat an eye when I later showed up with a bunch of hand-made rosettes and silk rope with feathers tied to the ends and showed him where I thought they should go.
Elaine’s bouquet consisted of peonies, anemones, and roses, among other fresh blooms. I wanted my bouquet to look as if I went out and picked those flowers that day, and the palette to complement (not match) my dress.
Two things we will never get tired of seeing: bunting and barn receptions.
Mitch and I went into planning our wedding with the attitude of creating the most beautiful and intimate day that reflected us in every possible way. Overall, our favorite thing about the day was that our families bonded so beautifully and naturally. When I arrived I had to wait in the tasting room for 15 minutes while everyone was reined in. I got to watch from a bird’s-eye view from the top of the hill, and see my wedding in action before actually being in it yet. It was such a lovely perspective.
