Hello Cakeies! I have to admit, being a blogger sometimes has some serious perks. Like when you get the chance to work with some of your favorite wedding vendors and play dress up all day long. So here’s the story. Nokia asked us to participate in their “Take Two” campaign. I jumped at the opportunity to have a second chance with my wedding (or at least parts of it). After blogging for almost 5 years and being married for 6, you better believe there are aspects of our wedding day that I wish I could redo. Not that I didn’t love our wedding because it *really* was the perfect day, but I see so many pretty dresses and decor every day that make me want to recreate that moment all over again. On our wedding day I remember saying, “In 5 years let’s come back to this very spot with all of our friends and family, and have a vow renewal.” Ha! Didn’t happen. You get so wrapped up in the moment, and all you want is to have that magical feeling again and again. Then, of course, you have kids or buy a home, and well, priorities change.
After thinking back to our Sayulita, Mexico wedding, Scott and I realized the one thing we really missed out on, was our wedding cake. Yep, we never had a wedding cake. No ceremonial cake cutting for us. We were both so laid back about the day, and ended up dancing the night away, not thinking about a cake. Now, having a “second chance”, we took our special little man, Liam, and created a magical little moment together…
Since we started our new family blog, 100 Layer Cakelet, I’ve been dying to have family portraits of us taken. There are always so many inspiring shoots on there, and now I’m happy to have one of my little fam.
Ahhh, let the cake cutting begin!!! There was a lot of anticipation built into this moment. I kind of did have little butterflies and the giddiness that you feel on your wedding day. While we were cutting the cake our little guy was tugging at my dress, saying, “cake mommy cake!” This little moment with him, made it all the more memorable. It all seemed new again.
After finally experiencing this tradition myself I can see why most all weddings have them. It’s the perfect moment to just slow down from all the hustle that comes with a wedding, and take in that you’re now married.
Since we were going through the trouble of getting all dressed up and going through a second wardrobe change, we figured we should have a hot ride too! Our little man couldn’t have been more excited! This baby blue Cadi got quite the looks.
