Photog Justin Michau spotted this airstream at a family member’s property and instantly began planning a shoot around it. Once Leah and Pete volunteered to be subjects, it was all woodsy and vintage goodness from there. Justin says, The shoot went better than I could’ve imagined and with a few vintage dress changes, her lovely red locks, and Pete’s solid good looks. I knew we had something we’d both love.
And those would be the lovely red locks. Check out that braid.
From Leah + Pete: We were only engaged for nine months, so we weren’t planning to have an engagement shoot until Justin convinced us it’d make shooting the wedding photos easier (he was right). Even then, we didn’t have a lot of time to think about “what kind of engagement shoot was right for us” in addition to planning our wedding. When Justin posted a photo of an old Airstream on Instagram, we knew that was the setting for us. Travel is one of the things we first bonded over, and the nostalgic aesthetic reflected our love for things of the past. Better yet, the Airstream was located on an apple orchard in a farming town right near where we both grew up.
This sure is one good-looking couple, don’t ya think?
The setting was already pretty perfect, but Caitlin’s styling made us feel like we were part of an epic love story, almost like “Grapes of Wrath” meets “The Notebook.” In the midst of high-paced, stressful wedding planning, new jobs, and moving, this shoot provided some of the most romantic moments we had in months. As we drove away that night with leaves in our hair (and maybe a little sunburn), we were quite happy we decided to have an engagement shoot.
We’re pretty happy you did too! Beautiful work, Justin.
