After Erick proposed to Mara on top of the ferris wheel at Coachella in 2013, they quickly decided a Palm Springs venue would be just right. Two Pinterest boards (here + here), 7 months, and a little rare Palm Springs rain later, they had this rad, artsy Ace Hotel wedding. Thanks to Nick Radford for the photos below.
The bride’s bright bouquet recipe: coral poppy, yellow + orange ranunculus, white roses, hookeri succulents.
Mara totally didn’t think she’d end up with a bold, beaded gown, but she tried on the Jenny Packham “Joy” dress in platinum at the request of Courtney from Joan Pillow and that was it!
Mara dreamt of snagging a few gorgeous windmill shots, so they didn’t mind heading out there before the ceremony. Mara says, Once I had time with Erick and got those shots, I was much more relaxed for the ceremony.
Geometric mobiles custom made by Hello Bonjour Décor arrived in Palm Springs the day before the wedding!
All these fab laser-cut signs created by the bride inspired her to open up an Etsy shop this summer!
Mara’s advice to those planning: Don’t worry about tradition. My family being from Texas had an idea of how a typical wedding should be. Erick and I went against a lot of those ideas: asking our friend to perform the ceremony, walking down the aisle to non-traditional songs, not wearing a veil, not tossing a bouquet, the list goes on. In the end, many of those items my parents gave me such a hard time on they later complimented. So go with your gut on what the two of you want. And one last thing: a day of coordinator is invaluable!
