You know how some people work better under a deadline? These two had a 5-month engagement, and the short timeframe meant putting an emphasis on the important things, like gathering their loved ones and creating an intimate space to say ‘I do’. Jessie says it was better that way because they had to focus on the bigger picture, and trust that the details would work out (they did).
Thanks to J. Bird Photography for the romantic photos below.
The bride, on their 75-person nouveau romantic wedding…
It was incredibly intimate, and everything was designed with community in mind. We are very community-oriented, and that was reflected in our wedding We just wanted to celebrate this marriage with all of the people who have loved and supported us and our story. It was about getting everyone together in the same place for the first, and probably last, time. It was ideal – a joyful and intimate environment that fostered good conversation. We were full just watching everyone share a meal together. It was about those moments.
Stunning!
Flowers on flowers from Bricolage… Camellia, pink ranunculus, white veronica, cafe au lait dahlia, majolica spray rose, peach orchid, dark hellebores, antike garden rose, yellow garden rose, rex begonia, lady slipper orchid, eucalyptus, plumosa fern, rabbit foot fern, bay leaf, Italian ruscus, jasmine vine
The wedding was a group effort by J + T’s closest friends + fam—from their friends’ home as a venue and a family-style dinner.
Tommy’s mom whipped up two desserts, one being this traditional Norwegian cake.
Jessie says, Even the shortest engagement feels like ages when you’re ready to be married to your person. Less time takes away the possibility of indecisiveness and truly helps you to stay focused on what actually needs to be done and what you truly want. You don’t have time to stress about napkin rings or small details, but they still come together. Shorter engagements bring out an incredibly creative side of people.
Congrats you guys!
