(Yeahhh, prepare to be wooed.)
All of the lovely wedding photography we swoon over here on 100lc is the result of the creatives who dedicate their time and energy to capturing a bride + groom in an honest, authentic, and beautiful light (often literally). When we took a peek at Shannon Von Eschen’s photos from the Erich McVey Workshop she attended, all that hard work and talent was evident. Lucky us, she spilled the deets of the workshop and her experience with us today.
In all honesty, I wasn’t a groupie of Erich McVey‘s. At first. I hadn’t even heard of him until a few close photographer friends raved about his workshop. I Googled his name and was suddenly smitten. I signed up with a close friend of mine, but found the journey to the workshop and the interactions with both Erich and his wife, Amy, a complete and utter joy. They were the most wonderful people in the world and the kindest, smartest, and most encouraging couple I’ve met.
This workshop changed me in so many ways, namely because I learned to just jump in. I was debating on a name change, but they pushed me to do it. I was debating about committing to film, but they pushed me to do it. And I was worried about how I’d grow as an attendee shooting behind a “legend” at a workshop, but they pushed me forward, let me, let us all, shoot as much as we wanted and then, later, allowed us the privilege of sharing our photos with anyone and everyone who wants to see them!
Ashley Beyer has an absolute gift for floral design, yessir.Getting to shoot alongside the talents of stylist extraordinaire Ginny Au was a dream come true. Ginny used the elements of the Earth to inspire all of our shoots and though it’s been hard to pick a favorite, I’d say this water shoot holds my heart. Her ability to portray visually the fluidity of water, but it’s all too common opposites of being both calm, yet fierce, graceful, yet strong, shallow, yet deep, and altogether a beautiful and necessary life giver had me inspiration-whelmed Yes, that. If anything, I hope my photos accurately portray this amazing team of talent–showing how beautiful their ideas and stories are in a still-frame.
They sure do! Thanks to Shannon and the team below who made this workshop and shoot happen!
