If you were smitten with the flawlessly draped gown we featured the last time we had an editorial with dancers up on 100lc, you’ll be pleased you happened across this post today. Portugal-based duo Brancoprata (made up of photog André + designer Sofia) chose an airy Gio Rodrigues gown that effortlessly envelopes their ballerina bride, Ana, in this dreamy scene:
Now that’s some hair! Imagine it all wrapped up a whimsical ‘do. (Just kidding, you don’t have to… Photos below!)
André says, This editorial was inspired by a suite of drawings that Man Ray published with poems by Paul Eluard in 1937. He later remarked that in those drawings his hands were dreaming and that he wanted to create ‘a contrasting of similar and different forms at the same time’. The epiphany of movement (our greatest inspiration for this editorial), the graceful gestures of the hands, takes us to a parallel universe, where a monochromatic color scheme unavoidably is in control! Portuguese ballerina Ana’s understanding of movement made her a natural model for an ethereal scene.
