A groom’s gift box idea and personalized Coke bottles for your summer party are both pretty great ways to Share a Coke if you ask us. (You have all entered our #shareacoke giveaway, yes? If not, open this window stat.) But how fun would a DIY Coke float station be at your wedding? That’s one we want to be invited to for sure. To illustrate the beauty of such a dessert spread, we teamed up with Kayley of The Kitchen McCabe to dream up our own little station. Grab the recipe and how-to below.
First up, how to make fresh black cherry syrup…
Black Cherry Syrup
Ingredients
12 ounces dark cherries, stems and pits removed
½ cup sugar
½ cup water
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions
Place cherries, sugar, water, and lemon juice in a medium sized saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium/high heat. Reduce heat to medium and let cook for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool for at least 30 minutes. Pour the mixture into a blender and puree until smooth. Run the syrup through a fine mesh sieve and discard solids. Store in an airtight container and keep refrigerated.
*makes about 2 cups of syrup
Onto the float itself…
Fresh Black Cherry Vanilla Coke Float
Ingredients
3-4 scoops vanilla ice cream
Fresh black cherry syrup
1 small bottle Coca-Cola
Sweetened whipped cream
Fresh cherries, to garnish
Instructions
Place scoops of vanilla ice cream in a tall glass. Pour about 2 tablespoons of Black Cherry Syrup over the ice cream. Fill the glass with Coca-Cola, pouring slowly to avoid overflow. Spoon whipped cream on top of the foam. Top with a fresh cherry.
Naturally you’ll want to add a little variety for your float making guests to choose from. We took things up a notch with raspberry, coconut, and lime syrups topped with fresh lime slices, cherries, and raspberries.
Go ahead… Steal this idea for your big day. And don’t forget to snag your entry to our Share a Coke giveaway. It’s your last chance!
