Your Monday is about to get a whole lot sweeter thanks to this shoot Rebekah J. Murray Photography sent along. It’s all about thinking of the wedding festivities from the perspectives of the little ones involved, and it’d be so perf for a couple that has special kiddos playing a role in the festivities. Who doesn’t want to see their flower girls’ smiling faces when they realize they get to dress up and celebrate just like the bride?
Rebekah says, The shoot was inspired by flower girls and their (what must be) experience at a wedding. I wanted to both highlight their addition to a wedding, and also give ideas for how to make a reception space just for them. I worked with a local woodworker to design the picnic table at an easy height for them, we collected vintage dishes and saucers for the place settings. Our baker made all miniature desserts to fit their scale (lemon poppyseed bundt cakes, pies, tarts, and pastries) and the girls loved their summer picnic!
Their style was British tea party meets farmers market—natural yet elegant. Those peonies really are to die for.
The Virginia Artisans used a lot of pinks and light purples since it was a party for little girls, and then she also added some accents of coral (those peonies!) and marsala to punch up the colors a bit. The L & L Events rented some pieces from Something Vintage (like the golden flatware and one of the tables) and then she also sourced the gold-rimmed champagne glasses. The artist worked off the color palette and made an oil painting of peonies as a backdrop.
