This wedding sums up why Palm Springs is suuuch a good wedding locale. It’s the ultimate destination without having to leave the country, or like S + P, the state. Then, for those who want to get fancy and throw an epic party, there couldn’t be a better spot for both. Growing up vacationing to the area, these two knew all this already. Enter Leah McCormick behind the camera + Hello Gem on design and florals and you’ve got yourself all the best things about the desert rolled into one.
We both like to wear black tie randomly on a Tuesday night and loved that we could do that at this venue with its classic old Hollywood feel. The adult summer camp feel allowed for all the weekend festivities we had in mind and the simple old Hollywood elegance was exactly the vibe we were hoping to create. Our music for our ceremony and cocktail hour was all 50s and 60s music and it was important that we always have live music playing to create the mood.

Gahh! Hello Gem, those geniuses. Some of the flowers here + in the bouquets: ranunculus, garden roses, peonies, anemones, poppies, and succulents. Peter had an orange citrus as his boutonnière to rep their college too.
Their table numbers were Palm Springs celebs, but they kept one honoring Shira’s grandfather who considered himself the ultimate Palm Springs celebrity. Fun!
Shira says, Walking down the aisle I expected to be very nervous and all I felt was joy. Even though Peter and I had taken our photos before the wedding, I felt the most immense joy in that moment and couldn’t help dancing down the aisle towards Peter with my mom. While our song choice (Today I Met The Boy I Am Going To Marry” by Darlene Love) was not traditional it really played into old school Palm Springs vibe we were going for. I don’t think I have ever smiled so much in my life as in that moment.
Cheers to the happy couple!
