Amanda + Spike’s Big Sur wedding was musical and edgy just like them. Just consider their visions for the day. His: a jam sesh among the trees with their best friends and food trucks and kegs. Hers: A little more “wedding”. Seems like just the job for Bash Please, doesn’t it? They thought so too. Bash even helped them discover James Moes, who captured everything from the bridesmaids’ black jumpsuits (!!!) to the sunny table details.
When we first pulled off Highway 1 into Paion, with the switchbacks and foliage opening up to an expansive view of the ocean, we knew we had found the perfect venue. Paion is situated on the edge of a high cliff, with two levels of flat lawn shaded by large trees. From any point on the property, the view towards the west is dominated by the ocean out to the horizon. At night, the stars come out bright and the moon lights up the water. The view of the vast ocean is mesmerizing and calming.
Their color palette: marigold, linen, Merlot, amber, + black
A + S divided the celebration over two days so Friday could be more laidback and the main event would be more elegant. They say, Friday night we had a welcome party at Henry Miller Library, an outdoor concert venue under the Redwood trees. We each played a few sets with our friends—our groomsmen and bridesmaids—and we performed a song we wrote together. A delicious local wood-fired oven pizza truck supplied the dinner. The style was like a nice music festival—there were rugs on the stage, candles, and flowers in small glass bottles, and, perhaps best of all, a tee-pee! The attire guidance for Friday was “hip + a little fancy”. On Saturday, “fancy + a little hip”.

• They also had a silent disco to continue the fête after the noise restriction at 10pm (good thinking!)
