K + D’s story is pretty magical. Living in California, they chose to get married at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Aspen, where Katrina’s artist parents lived and worked for years. Not only did she get a chance to say I Do just steps from where she was actually born, they learned that the home is now a library filled with art books published by Dan’s family. After meeting Scott Clark in Venice + loving his aesthetic, they enlisted him to document their day in Colorado.
The requirements for the florals? Whimsical arrangements that represented their love of nature. Liz of Cori Cook Floral Design blew them away!
One of my bridesmaids worked at Men’s Vogue, so she helped Dan with ties and pocket squares that went with our color scheme. Those small touches really tied their looks together. It worked perfectly, everyone felt comfortable and looked great!
Too cute! These two knew they wanted a summer wedding, which meant planning in less than five months. The short time frame worked perfectly for them.
A friend painted all the signage + calligraphy for the paper suite, and Katrina used her graphic design background to design the website, welcome bags, and other details. Katrina says, We really wanted our guests to be comfortable throughout the whole experience. From the gift bags to the farewell brunch, we wanted them to feel taken care of and let them know how much we appreciated their love and support, and that they came from so many far away places to be there with us!
Towards the end of our first dance, the band asked all our guests to join us on the dance floor. Everyone rushed out and it was an instant dance party before the first course had even been served. The tent was buzzing with so much love and good energy. I have never seen this happen so early at a wedding reception! It was a moment of pure joy and love. We really felt everyone’s support and excitement that had been building throughout the weekend. It was a perfect day, and the reception site provided jaw-droppingly gorgeous views everywhere you looked.
It was also amazing having all of our friends and family in one place for several days, rather than just the one big night. It was so special to walk around Aspen and run into our favorite people everywhere we went. It was four days and nights of parties, great meals, dancing, and celebrating. We also loved coming back from our honeymoon and hearing all the amazing stories of what people did over the weekend, where they hiked and mountain biked, who they became friends with, and all the fun stories from that night.
Congrats to Katrina and Dan!
