Hope you all had a fun Halloween! Now that we’ve covered Halloween weddings and enchanted bridal inspiration, let’s talk about this rustic scene that you’d never believe took place at the bride’s childhood home. (Which is perfect considering K + M have been together since high school!) First, they had pumpkins + fall colors, but everything was really designed around their love of vintage and nature. Second, they landed Sarah of Hazelwood Photo who is just so pro at capturing all those things. And lastly, they pulled it all off for about $15K—with 100 guests there too! Shall we?
The remnants of a Typhoon Songda hit our coast that weekend. We got inches of rain, we lost power and had to rent generators, and there was a ton of mud at the reception. The rain stopped for photos and the ceremony and poured during the reception. We had to pull two cars out of the mud with the skid loader. Our reception tent and heaters kept us warm and dry and we had a blast!
The storm was probably the only real hurdle we faced. We couldn’t have predicted it, but I knew that getting married outside in Oregon in October, there would be a risk of rain. We were as prepared for it as we could be.
Kalina works in the beauty industry, so you know she had to put a little glam into the day. Love the sparkly ‘maids and floral crowns from Summersweet Design.
Kalina’s bouquet recipe: deep red and orange dahlias, piano red garden roses, red ranunculus, Juliet garden roses, sea holly, cymbidium orchids, torch celosia and accented with smoke bush, leucadendron, eucalyptus greenery, and huckleberry… all wrapped up in a smoky teal ribbon.
Kalina tells it, I fell in love with wedding photography when we were in college, that is when I started following wedding blogs just to look at the photos. I knew that I wanted something different than your basic wedding photography, I wanted candids, details, and a dark moody vibe if that makes sense. I found Sarah from Oregon Bride Magazine’s Instagram on their Weekly Fave posts. We narrowed it down to three photographers to meet with and our meeting with Sarah just made us feel comfortable. She was amazing!
Congrats you two!
