We love how Apryl Ann Photography captured the light streaming through this intimate wedding reception scene, and it’s extra special to know that Lydia + Yefrey were surrounded by 22 of their closest friends + fam (plus seven littles) at that table. They planned their Maui destination wedding when she was in Dallas and he in New York, but it sure was worth the long-distance planning with After Yes.
Lydia tells it, I only saw Olowalu Plantation House in Maui online at first, and I was excited because it was exactly what I was looking for: It had a private beachfront, an area with grass, beautiful foliage, an amazing view of the ocean and of the island (when looking back from the small peninsula), and a lovely plantation style house to get ready in. It was peaceful, gorgeous and absolutely charming. I did more research and looked up more images and then we just booked it! When we arrived at the location to scout it we were not disappointed in the least. It was perfect for us and I am in love with their venue.

Lydia’s five sisters actually grew up singing together!
Don’t all the glittery bridesmaids dresses look so lovely with the bride’s Jenny Packham gown? They actually had them made by a family friend so they could customize each one to fit each girl more perfectly. And since L + Y’s theme started off as a 1920s theme at first, but morphed into a more natural rustic glam theme as the planning went on, it totally fit with the evolution of their design.
Lydia, on how she chose their photographer… After Yes had worked with Apryl Ann Photography before and I had actually seen some of her work on their website and asked about Apryl because I really enjoyed her aesthetic and attention to details. So, I met with Apryl and right away I knew I had to have her at our wedding! We did an engagement shoot first just to all get acquainted and she went with us to Maui, and I am so very glad she did. Our wedding and memories of it would not be the same with her great work and personality.
Ah, Maui. Congratulations, L + Y!
