Dreamy California wedding: Maurene + Chris

We’re in extra high spirits this morning after an incredibly beautiful weekend celebrating the wedding of our dear Amanda. Guys, it was beyond gorgeous and we cannot wait to share every bit with you! In the meantime, we’ve got plenty o’ pretty weddings lined up for you, starting with this sweet gem from Scott Clark Photo. Maurene’s fascination with everything ombrè while planning her wedding is pretty evident. The florals are beyond. The paper goods, well you know how much we love them + great design. Such an airy, ethereal wedding with hints of M + C’s writing and illustrating passion sprinkled throughout. Happy Monday!

Katherine Ahn designed invites

My talented bridesmaid Katherine Ahn designed our invitations as her wedding gift to us. I knew I wanted the invites to be slightly modern with a dreamy use of color, and she nailed it. She used a quote from one of our favorite books, The Little Prince, for the poster. Chris is an illustrator and I’m a writer so we really wanted to incorporate our common love, children’s books, into our wedding somehow.

The cutest!

Need some music recommendations? Theirs were pretty good. The processional song was “God Only Knows” by the Beach Boys. Maurene walked down the aisle to “Zebra” by Beach House. The recessional song was “Silently” by Blonde Redhead. First dance was to “The Book of Love” by the Magnetic Fields, which was performed live by their good friends.

Fabulous advice from Maurene, take note!

I was given this advice and it was PRICELESS the day of my wedding: You may think you’re not a stress case (like I did) but things will inevitably hit the fan near the wedding day. Make sure that day-of, there is a point person to absorb any complications or problems—whether it’s your coordinator or a trusted family member. Your head will be in la la land so you will be in no position to deal with a grumpy relative or missing mason jars. Also? It really helps to have talented friends and family. Every single special thing you see in these photos (from our programs to our pies) was thanks to the talents and elbow grease of the people we love.

Congratulations Maurene + Chris!
