We love it when a couple comes along and shares fresh ideas on planning a wedding. Tianyi + Dan pretty much had that effect on us. When coming up with a wedding theme Tianyi decided on a whole fairytale theme using a rabbit and a fox as their alter egos. Makes you wonder what you’d pick as yours, no? With that playful idea in mind, Tianyi designed their wedding invitations, menus and every pretty in pink paper detail. Caroline Tran was there to capture their wonderfully whimsical wedding, which can be seen gracing the pages of The Knot Magazine Winter Issue out now!
A few months after meeting on the internet, Tianyi + Dan decided to have their first date… in Mongolia! They both hopped on a plane and met at the airport. They went to Tibet and created one of their favorite memories – going to the top of a mountain to hang Tibetan prayer flags. On their second date, they went to Tahiti, then to Taiwan to meet Tianyi’s mom.
Some of the most adorable wedding invitations to date! Tianyi owns Tiselle – a letterpress and design company so all credit goes to her for such creative invites.
Guests were invited to sign fabric squares, which were hung to the back row of the ceremony chairs. It gave the ceremony a touch of live art and payed homage to the prayer flags they hung in Tibet. The squares were then sewn into a quilt after the wedding.
The Cravens Estate in Pasadena isn’t just the perfect outdoor setting for a wedding, it’s also owned by the American Red Cross, so all fees paid to reserve the space are given as donation to the foundation!
Fleuretica, their florist and friend, created chandeliers and a bird cage out of vintage lamp shades, with strips of colorful fabric tied to it.Love! Congratulations Tianyi + Dan!
More from their wedding can be seen in The Knot Magazine Winter Issue out now!
