This wedding may just take the cake for having the most breathtaking landscape and possibly the most extreme post ceremony activity. The photos by Bayly & Moore are beautiful, but what exactly did they have to do to get them? Oh, just hop on a helicopter with the bride & groom, plus their entire wedding party, and fly to the tip of Mount Soho in Queenstown, New Zealand. It was Kelly + Mark’s ideal location to showcase their beautiful country and entertain guests from abroad, and it did not disappoint!
To add a little glam to a traditional timeless style Kelly went with a hint of sparkle.
I love bright colours and cobalt blue is one of my favourites. I really wanted a strong modern contrast and elegant effect of the long length, whilst again taking into account the wether conditions.
A little picnic was waiting for the wedding party at the top of the mountain. And then these gorgeous photos were taken…
One thing I wish I knew before I started my wedding plans – how much time it really takes to plan it all yourself from afar! I planned the wedding from Singapore! When your bridesmaids offer help take it because it can really end up being a bit stressful the last few weeks leading up to your day. Also the length of time it too to customize my dress. If you can, plan to have it completed a month prior. It gives you ample time to tweak and not stress yourself out last minute.
Kelly + Mark created a custom gold tiki for each guest (which is a traditional New Zealand icon) as their favors and everyone wore them throughout the dinner and on the dance floor.
We went with one long feasting table, decorated with rustic elements like tree stumps all hand cut, bright flowers and candles with bulb lights strung overhead like an Italian feast. Mountains could be seen from every window. It was truly magical! After dinner, guests moved into the antler room complete with a bar, DJ, dance floor, open fireplace and large leather lounges for post ceremony party time.
We decided against a traditional cake and instead surprised our guests with Mr. Whippy, an ice cream truck we both loved from our childhood.
Sigh… such a pretty wedding, yes?
Congratulations Kelly + Mark!
