Happy Friday, Cakies! We hope you have all had an amazing first (and very short) week of 2014. Now for some pretty inspiration to take you into the weekend. Stefanie + Kevin didn’t go into their planning thinking about a specific theme for their wedding. They did have a goal though: colorful and fun. Mint napkins were folded as bows atop of a chevron table runner, a gold glitter wedding cake added some sparkle and their ceremony venue was reminiscent of a courtyard cafe in New Orleans’ French Quarter. In the end, you could say this all made their wedding modern and retro, with a touch of Southern.
Bouquet recipe: Peach hypericum berries, peach and pink gerbera daisies, pink and white lilies, pink and white carnations, white alstroemeria and Queen Ann’s lace.
Since our reception was in an old theater I thought doing a marquee with our names would be fun. I had my dad do it since he can do anything and it really turned out amazing! *For a few marquee DIY’s check out this past post.
Stefanie made that adorbs cake topper with wooden skewers and glitter poster sheets.
Love Stefanie’s advice: Talk to your partner, figure out what is most important to you both and finalize that first. After that, whether or not you really love planning things, delegate things! Trying to do everything is too overwhelming. Because in the end, even if every little tiny detail goes perfectly (or not), your memories will be this awesome blur of a day with the highlights of crying and laughing during your vows, dancing with your dad to his favorite song, having your beautiful 90 year old grandmother there, and getting to be with your best friend for as long as he’ll have you from there on out. Just be grateful for everything, and don’t try to rush the wedding, and try not to stress your mom out too much. Also, eat the top tier of your cake immediately! You’ll thank me later!
Congrats you two!
